In this photo, I am portraying my hometown, Ann Arbor, and the things I see every day. Whether I'm driving past or seeing it on a walk, these photos are things that I will remember for the rest of my life. The first layer is a selfie in front of my house and I took it in front of my house to represent where I'm from on a more specific level. The second layer is a photo of the Huron River, that I see each day on the road. This also represents the crossover toward Barton Hills, where I enjoy golfing. The third layer is a photo of my two dogs that are a huge part of my life. Since the lockdown started, I've spent much more time with my dogs and I couldn't leave them out. The fourth layer is a photo of the Maple Road and M-14 sign, which is the road my neighborhood is on. It also represents the road by Skyline High School, which I attend. The fifth layer is a railroad crossing sign near the bridge to Barton Hills. This photo is similar to the Huron River because it also represents the connection between my life on each side of the bridge. The sixth and final layer is a photo of a painted rock that says "HAPPY SPRING." I chose this photo to add to my collage because to me, the start of spring feels like a new life. Winter is gloomy, cold, and overall not enjoyable, making the start of spring that much better each year. To sum it up, these photos portray important things in my life and show beautiful parts of Ann Arbor.
"To photograph truthfully and effectively is to see beneath the surfaces." -Ansel Adams
The background of this photo is the mountains of Arizona. I took some amazing photos while I was there and it felt peaceful looking at them. This represents me because I love the mountains and trees and hiking through them. Hikes are long adventures that anyone can enjoy with family and friends. This is different from my other selfie because that represented my life in Ann Arbor and this one represents other things I enjoy outside of Ann Arbor.
